Extended Professional Profile

Prior to joining Helios, Katie served as Chief Auditor at Allspring Global Investments, reporting directly to the Board Audit and Risk Committee with additional responsibilities to international boards and fund trustees. Following Allspring’s separation from Wells Fargo Asset Management, she built the firm’s Internal Audit function from the ground up, designing an integrated, board-ready advisory and assurance model aligned to the organization’s strategic priorities and enterprise risk profile.

At Allspring, Katie led the development of an enterprise-wide integrated data strategy connecting risk, audit, compliance, issues management, controls, errors, strategic initiatives and more into a dynamic governance, audit, risk, and compliance platform. She also established enterprise assurance mapping and a common risk and control language that improved decision-making, reduced duplicative testing, and strengthened executive and board oversight.

Throughout her career, Katie has played key leadership roles in large-scale transformation initiatives, acquisitions, divestitures, regulatory remediation efforts, and operating model redesigns. Her work has enabled organizations to close longstanding regulatory matters, improve ratings outcomes, modernize governance frameworks, and accelerate strategic growth while balancing operational effectiveness, cost, and risk.

Prior to Allspring, Katie held senior leadership positions at Wells Fargo Asset Management, Citizens Financial Group, State Street Corporation, and MFS Investment Management. At Citizens, she led strategy, analytics, governance, business controls, and compliance initiatives for Business Services Risk, where she implemented risk management and assurance capabilities, improved enterprise transparency, drove measurable reductions in enterprise risk exposure and helped enable strategic transactions.

At State Street, Katie built and led global compliance quality assurance programs supporting more than 90 compliance programs and numerous non-compliance program functions across multiple jurisdictions. She also was the operational risk team lead for Basel II implementation, worked in corporate audit and private wealth management.

At MFS Investment Management, she served as Head of Internal Audit, providing independent assurance and strategic insight to global audit committees while helping establish a highly regarded internal audit function during a period of significant regulatory scrutiny and industry transformation.

Katie began her career in management consulting at Ernst & Young and has remained actively engaged in industry leadership initiatives throughout her career. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for OnCorps AI, where she contributes executive-level guidance on the responsible and value-driven application of artificial intelligence within financial services.
